Centenary 2022

“He swapped number plates among his cars, drove unlicensed vehicles and then when I tried to make inquiries, he was hostile and obstructive: an attitude that was particularly serious in view of the fact that he is a Justice of the Peace whose duty it is to assist the police in seeing that the law is observed”. This was the summary of events given in court by police against a Justice of the Peace from South Auckland. He pleaded guilty, and the magistrate took a dim view of the offending and fined him  £3, somewhat more than an accomplice convicted of the same charges.
