Statutory Declarations
Statutory Declarations are widely used, and appear as part of many different documents handled by Justices including Kiwisaver withdrawals, Kiwibuild applications, Liability transfer forms for vehicle infringements and many others.
It is NOT enough for the declarant (client) to just sign! Each client MUST also make a verbal declaration to the Justice by responding YES or I DO to the question “Do you solemnly and sincerely declare that the contents of your declaration are true?” (This question is printed on the inside cover of your log book for quick reference if needed.)
The Justice will then sign, date and apply a stamp to the declaration and complete exhibit notes for ALL documents referred to in the declaration.
Please ensure that you take the time to administer all Statutory Declarations correctly.
