Stamp Placement

There has been a recent incident where a JP stamp was removed from the document where the JP placed it to certify the copy,  and subsequently transferred (fraudulently) to a different document.

In order to make fraudulent misuse of our stamps more difficult, we recommend that JP stamps be placed so that they partially cover a small part of the image or document without obscuring any of the detail. It is also best practice to draw straight lines through the blank spaces in the border surrounding the images (as in the examples below). It is important to place a stamp on every image. The passport image below is a single image so needs only one stamp. If possible place your stamp  across the fold of the document providing this does not obscure important details (not possible on the example below).

The bottom image shows where the front side of the driver licence has been mis-stamped (which happens) and the small round stamp has been used to partially cover the image of the driver licence without obscuring any of the information..
