Reminder: we serve all in our community

Please remember that as Justices we have all made an oath to “do right to all manner of people after the laws and usages of New Zealand without fear or favour, affection or ill will.“

AJPA Council has learned of a situation where a Justice refused to see a young client who required an affidavit to obtain a limited licence so that he could continue to do his job. 

The JP allegedly refused to administer the Affidavit and turned the client away stating “I am not prepared to do this for you and you can deal with the consequences of your offence”.

We have agreed to serve our community according to NZ law without making judgements concerning the client’s race, gender, choices, actions, opinions or situation.
