PRESENTATION – WARD BUCKINGHAM
Ward Buckingham, JP, was presented with his 40-year certificate at a recent meeting of the Mt Roskill Support Group. Auckland’s Mayor, Phil Goff, said he was especially pleased to hand Ward his certificate and Retired JP badge because both he and Ward were long-time Mt Roskill residents – Phil Goff was 10 times elected MP for the district. Ward was one of the founders of the Onehunga CAB where, for years, he attended to serve as a Justice of the Peace, latterly organising the roster for what is one of the busiest desks in Auckland. He has also been a leading light in the Support Group. Phil Goff thanked Ward, and all other Justices, for their duties, acknowledging that they give their time freely to perform an essential service in the community.
The meeting was supported by a number of members from the Auckland Justices of the Peace Association Council Members including Frank Rands (President), Alan Martin, Wallis Walker, Ian Gardiner, Bruce Kilmister (Registrar) and Geoff Pownall (Treasurer). We wish Ward all the very best in his retirement and thank him for his long service to the community.
