OUR HISTORY – JUSTICE OF THE PEACE CHARGED

In 1924 an Auckland Justice found himself on the other side of the Bench when he was charged with manslaughter after the car he was driving hit, and killed, a young woman in Queen Street. A jury found him guilty but recommended mercy. The Judge convicted and sentenced the man to a fine of £150.
