Notes from our 2024 AGM
We held the Auckland Regional Conference and the Auckland Justices of the Peace Association Annual General Meeting on Sunday 22 September.
During the conference we had addresses from Royal Federation President Nigel Tate, and Board Member Ric Odom, along with an excellent presentation from past RF President Graeme Kitto on Sovereign Citizen issues for JPs. (Be careful with these.)
We enjoyed a pleasant lunch.
After lunch we moved to the AGM, which was presided over by outgoing President, Alan Martin.
Our new President Ian Gibson was elected unopposed and Carly Gunn was voted in as our new Vice President. Well done to both; we have created good succession going forward.
Tony Kortegast was elected Auckland Representative to the Royal Federation Board. Tony will take up this position after the Royal Federation Conference in March 2025 and Sherryl Wilson will continue as our representative until this time.
We had several vacancies occurring on Council and there were 10 nominations for these vacancies. We have farewelled previous council members who had completed their term of service (Ian Gardiner, Ginny Radford & Frank Rands ). We welcomed 3 new council members; Mel Wong, Clucy Ingram and Trevor Allsebrook, along with 4 council members who were re-elected (Hazel Bedogni,Tony Meredith, Rohini Subbian, Justin Zuo)
We do sincerely thank all those members who put their names forward for election.
Frank Rands was accorded Life Membership by the meeting and Roger Brookes accepted the award from President Alan Martin in Frank’s absence.
We would like to thank all those who attended the day. Attending the Regional Conference/AGM is an important part of belonging to the AJPA and we would strongly encourage members to attend in 2025.
