Council Meeting Notes

Notes from June Council Meeting

The Council of the Auckland Justices of the Peace Association met on June 12, 2024.

The AJPA website continues to get great use for locating JPs or Service Desks; or gaining information or downloading forms.  The addition of the ‘standing man’ icon enables individuals to make the site more accessible for those with visual issues.  This is initially a trial which will be reviewed.

Over 50,000 transactions were recorded at Service Desks in May during 2250 hours of JP service: a remarkable effort contributed to by hundreds of active Justices.

HUB trainings continue, with most attendees (300 plus) being well satisfied with the refresher content, and presentation style.  The remaining locations are:

Saturday 15 June, 10-noon; Kohimarama Primary School

Sunday 23 June, 10-noon, St John New Lynn Base, 75 Wolverton St, Avondale

Topics (the same at each location) are

  1. Affidavits
  2. Certifying copies of electronic documents\
  3. Verifying identity with photo ID
  4. Foreign documents
  5. EPOAs/Wills
  6. Statutory Declarations
  7. Record Keeping

The recently completed on-line accreditation course has contributed to at least another 60 Justices  gaining or renewing their accreditation. HUB trainings also count as the education session for accreditation.

AJPA Registrar will be away on a well-earned holiday 11-27 July.  Essential activities will continue in his absence, but a number of actions may be delayed.

A detailed review of Issuing Officers, Nominated Persons, and S9 Justices (Special Functions training and capability) is being undertaken to ensure we have the appropriately trained people available as required at each location.
