The Member of Parliament for Maungakiekie, Denise Lee, held an afternoon tea today in her electorate office to thank local Justices of the Peace for their service to the community.
The MP said she was well aware of the hours and effort Justices put in – dedicated people who wouldn’t have it any other way than to be available for members of the community seeking their services. She thanked them for their public service.
Jenny Hunt, local Support Group Coordinator, said sometimes Justices were a bit stretched and she looked forward to more appointments in the district.
Sherryl Wilson, President of the Auckland Justices of the Peace Association, also thanked all the local Justices for their work, especially those who volunteer their time at Service Centres where most people go who need to see a JP. She said that training and keeping up to date is important… and it’s never been more desirable for Justices to gain, or renew, accreditation thus showing the community that they are competent.
Auckland’s representative on Royal Federation of NZ Justices Associations, Ric Carlyon, thanked Denise Lee for acknowledging the work Justices of the Peace do, saying that these days there are not many services so readily provided – and at no cost – but JPs willingly continue to serve the community.
