JP ENTRIES IN YELLOW PAGES

There has been a recent incident whereby a member of the public obtained a Justice’s name and address details from Yellow Pages and knocked on the door for service.  The Justice was unaware that their name was recorded and was shocked to see this had occurred.  You will also be aware that the number of your house is not shown in JP Locator on the AJPA website and only your street name is

Recently we heard about a member of the public who obtained a Justice’s name and address details from Yellow Pages and knocked on the door for service.  The Justice was unaware that their name was recorded and was shocked to see this had occurred.  You will also be aware that the number of your house is not shown in JP Locator on the AJPA website and only your street name is displayed.  Initially, house numbers were displayed on Find a JP but these can be removed by amending your profile on the Royal Federation Website.

One of the real issues is that when you decide to resign/retire or sadly you pass away suddenly, your listing remains on Yellow Pages indefinitely. This creates further issues for clients and your family.

So what should you do? Firstly,  review your information by checking this LINK with yellow pages.  If you find your name and details displayed and you wish to have them removed, please contact the Registrar by clicking this LINK and he will request removal on your behalf.  Please note that the AJPA do not provide any outside agency with your details for publishing in their documentation.

You can try and remove yourself. Sadly it is not as easy to get yourself out of Yellow Pages as it was to get your record on.

A review of Yellow Pages has shown that over 80 Justices are listed and are either retired or deceased and a further 50 are listed with incorrect information.  This information remains available to the public and it is no wonder the public gets frustrated with trying to contact a JP.   Our initial approach will be to try and remove the 80 Justices from the Yellow Pages in bulk and the Registrar will contact those that have incorrect information over the next three months to either correct the information or remove it.

In this world of the internet, we leave footprints everywhere and it may be worth just ‘googling’ your name to see what other records, local websites, directories where you may be listed.
