You may be aware that over the past two years several documents were being presented to Justices of the Peace purporting to be an ‘Affidavit’. These documents did not have the prescribed wording at the beginning and end of the document for an Affidavit but the clients presenting were convinced that they were an Affidavit. So, please be vigilant when dealing with this type of document as they are starting to appear again at Service Desks in 2022.
It was noted that some of these documents were marked as an ‘Affidavit of Truth’ and ran to many pages. Your attention is drawn to the October 2020 edition of JQ pages 9 – 11 which provides guidance on these types of documents. The JQ Education pages can also be found under JP Corner on the AJPA Website (jpauckland.org.nz).
