FIRST AUCKLAND JPs SWORN IN FOR 2022
Monday, 14 February 2022 saw six new Justices sworn in at the Auckland District Court. This was our first swearing-in ceremony since May 2021 and was a very different occasion. With COVID restrictions in place, the Court was not the normal place of celebration with families and friends present to mark the occasion.
The court was restricted to 10 people only, all masked, and included the six newly sworn JPs, Judge Peter Winter, Frank Rands, President; our Registrar Bruce and the Court Registrar Kasey. Indications are that these restrictions are going to be in place for some time, meaning that it will be a while before the 44 still awaiting their swearing-in will have their ceremonies.

The newly sworn JPs and their Support Groups are:
Manusiu Ahio – Eastern Districts
Chanel Talatalaga Alataua – Mangere
Foumana Aoene-Tumataiki – Manukau
Gordon Christopher Gibbons – Whau
Zsolt Laszlo Gondi – Hobson
Kikyoe (Kate) Hirano – Onehunga
We welcome them to their new roles!
Frank Rands, President AJPA
