Draft JP Amendment bill – for your information

Some Auckland Justices, concerned that the regulation of the role of Justices of the Peace in NZ needs updating, have been speaking with their MPs in an effort to bring about much needed change. In response, Jenny Salesa MP, has drafted Justices of the Peace (Regulating Justices) Amendment Bill. This Bill, which is supported by AJPA Council, has now been sent by Jenny to the other Justices of the Peace Associations in NZ for their information and comment.

We also provide a copy of the white paper prepared by AJPA Council at the request of the Associate Minister of Justice Hon Nicole McKee, and a copy of the draft Amendment Bill that is currently in the “biscuit tin”.
