Completing a Statutory Declaration

The Oaths and Declarations Act 1957 clearly states that a Statutory Declaration must follow the correct format.

I, Name of declarant, of [place of abode and occupation], solemnly and sincerely declare that

 [insert facts].

And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the Oaths and Declarations Act 1957.

However, there are many forms which are presented to Justices, which contain non-compliant Statutory Declarations.

Where possible the Justice should ask the declarant to add the missing details;

Place of abode  – preferably the declarant’s address, but a minimum of the town/city where the declarant is currently. (Some people live in their cars or mobile homes)

Occupation: broad job title eg teacher, contractor, unemployed, retired

Where possible please also upload a photo of, or link to, a non-compliant statutory declaration using the form in JP corner, so the errors can be addressed.
