In October 1922, the Auckland Justices of the Peace Association was formed with 216 members. The first meeting was held in the former Auckland Magistrates Court in Kitchener Street, now the home of the Metropolis Hotel & Residences.
To mark this historic occasion several functions have been organised:
- 28 May 2022: The Launch was held at the Support Group Coordinators’ and Rosterers’ Meeting in Parnell
- 11 June 2022: The Governor-General of New Zealand, Her Excellency The Rt Hon Dame Cindy Kiro will host an afternoon tea for some of the AJPA members
- October 2022: A plaque commemorating the founding of the Auckland Justices of the Peace Association will be placed on the exterior building of the former Auckland Magistrates Court, with permission of the current owners
- 15 October 2022: A celebration dinner will be held at the Royal NZ Yacht Squadron, to which members and partners are invited
Members attending any AJPA functions/meetings throughout the Centenary Year will be given a gift to mark this historic occasion.
