AFFIDAVITS BY BATCH
Recently a client brought in 4 Affidavits to be sworn and was put out when he was required to swear each of the affidavits individually. The documents were of South African origin and started off with ‘declare’ and ended with ‘sworn’. The client advised that this had never happened before and he had previously taken only one swearing for a batch of affidavits. Justices are advised that in New Zealand they should not undertake ‘batch’ swearings of affidavits and affidavits should be taken singularly. As an aside the same rule applies to Statutory Declarations.
