A PLACE TO STAMP

There have been fraud cases recently where the Justice’s stamp impression has been cut from one document and placed on another document using invisible tape and photocopied.  Photocopies are so good these days that unless you have a really good look it is very difficult to determine any foul play.

So how can we attempt to address this problem?

Justices should take care when placing their stamp on the document.  Try to position a part of the item which is being certified under the stamp.  In the case of a passport, cover a corner that has no writing under it, place your stamp and sign in the normal manner.  The next thing to do is not leave any blank space around the item being stamped by ruling lines across the blank areas.  Do use a ruler and make straight lines and don’t scribble over the client’s document.  Remember this is your client’s document so respect it.
